"Holy cow, what a week! Amy Gregg, Minnesota’s own, had me hooked from chapter one. From flower-named bovine to wielding sickles, this Farmed and Dangerous murder mystery is excitingly different. Never have I ever wanted to read about farming, until now."

From Amy: ‘Lurking around Sleepy Eye before my author event at Dyckman Free Library tonight, stopped @sleepyeyecoffee / @sleepyeyebrewing for an afternoon snack and found this! So surreal bringing FARMED & DANGEROUS "back home" tonight. I hope I live up to the hype!'

Minneapolis socialite Lilly Schmidt thought she had her life figured out… until her world came crashing down with the one-two punch of divorce papers and news of her grandparents’ deaths.

Suddenly single and the new owner of her family’s farm, Lilly finds herself thrust back into the old life she’d left far behind in her rural hometown of Lone Tree, Minnesota. The simple restart Lilly looks for on the farm is anything but when she is caught up in the fight between land developers hoping to bring new business and growth to the town, and the locals who want to keep their country life simple. She also, begrudgingly, must keep the peace with the farm’s hired hand Ryan, who also happens to be her old high school boyfriend—and is he still nursing a grudge!

When one of the land developers is found dead on her farm, Lilly faces a mix of small-town feuds and family secrets that proves deadlier with each turn. Can Lilly figure out the killer before she “buys the farm” permanently?

reviews

"I enjoyed the book. It was a perfect cozy mystery with a perfect length to read in the afternoon. There were enough little hints early on in the story that the ending wasn't a complete surprise - but there were enough red herrings to throw readers off the trail too. The conflict between city living and country life sometimes felt just a little contrived, but overall was a fun part of the book, too - and it's always more interesting to read a book with some local Minnesota flair. I would definitely recommend it to people I know who like cozy mysteries, especially those who are familiar with rural Minnesota and small-town characteristics."

"Farmed and Dangerous is a great read, a cozy story that brings you in with a familiar feeling of life, with relatable characters and life events. As you read you can picture yourself in the small farm town and meeting people from your past, then as you start to settle down the twist and turns come. Keeping you on your toes! I can't wait to see what comes next!"

"From the title, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this story definitely had me hooked! I love true crime, and Amy Gregg (author) kept me on the edge of my seat wondering where the story would take me. Much like Lilly, I was constantly finding myself thinking myself into circles about different suspects. In addition to the crime aspect of the plot, Gregg added in a lot of other themes, such as urban v. rural dichotomies and perceptions, family secrets and dysfunction, and the anxiety of returning to your past. I could picture Lone Tree, the farm, and the house and could hear the voices of the characters in my head so clearly with how they were written. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing how the characters develop across books, as Gregg may have finished up the crime, but all other plot points are still in process, keeping me still wanting more!"
